Using a heilys® panel fits easily into everyday life and can be flexibly adapted to different goals. Depending on the area of use, the main differences are distance, intensity and session duration – together, these three factors determine the light dose.
For recovery, for example, you would apply red and near-infrared light for around 10 minutes per body area at a distance of 15-30 cm. To allow the light to reach the skin optimally, the target area should be as free of clothing as possible. The pre-installed standard programmes on heilys® panels offer an easy way to get started and are already tailored to typical goals.
Beginners should start with shorter sessions and gradually increase the duration. Many users use their panel 4–6 times a week, some even daily. Consistency is what matters most, as the best results are usually achieved through regular use over several weeks.
Yes, a pleasant warmth is often felt on the skin during use. It is produced by the absorption of red and near-infrared light in the tissue, and many users find it relaxing.
Unlike conventional infrared or heat lamps, however, heilys® panels do not work primarily through heat. While heat lamps mainly generate warmth at the surface, the panels use specific red and near-infrared wavelengths to support biological processes in the cells. As a result, they usually produce significantly less heat than conventional heat applications.
How strongly you feel the warmth depends on factors such as your distance from the panel, the selected intensity, the session duration and your individual sensitivity. If you find the warmth too intense, we recommend increasing the distance from the panel or adjusting the intensity.
All Gen series panels use the same wavelengths (630 nm, 660 nm, 670 nm red light and 810 nm, 830 nm and 850 nm near-infrared light) and the same core technology. The differences lie mainly in the size of the coverage area, the number of LEDs and the maximum output and intensity.
Choosing the right panel depends mainly on which areas of your body you want to target.
The different models are based on the number of LEDs fitted. The higher the number, the larger the coverage area:
- Gen70 – 72 LEDs, 32 × 23 cm (length × width)
- Gen100 – 144 LEDs, 66 × 23 cm (length × width)
- Gen200 – 204 LEDs, 92 × 23 cm (length × width)
- Gen300 – 306 LEDs, 92 × 30 cm (length × width)
The larger models offer an ever larger coverage area and are particularly suitable for users who regularly want to cover several areas of the body or enjoy full-body sessions.
Whether protective goggles are needed depends on the particular use and the area of the body being exposed. As a general rule: do not stare directly into the LEDs – especially when using near-infrared light (NIR). Because NIR is largely invisible to the human eye, the actual light intensity is often underestimated.
For use on the face or if you have sensitive eyes, we therefore recommend wearing the protective goggles supplied. Alternatively, you can of course simply close your eyes during the session.
Red and near-infrared light are very well tolerated by most people. In certain situations, however, we recommend seeking medical advice before use.
These include, in particular, pregnancy, cancer or thyroid conditions, pacemakers or other implants, taking photosensitising medication, and known photosensitive skin conditions or a tendency towards light-induced seizures. In the case of unexplained skin changes, tumours, eye conditions or chronic illnesses, use should also be discussed with a doctor beforehand.
In addition, swollen, acutely inflamed, open, weeping or infected areas of skin should not be exposed directly. In such cases, it is advisable to seek medical advice first or to wait until the acute inflammatory phase has subsided.

With the touchscreen, you can choose between the standard programmes, create your own modes, adjust intensities and wavelengths individually or use the panel as ambient lighting. Your own settings can be saved and recalled at any time.
The heilys app gives you the same functions conveniently on your smartphone. Several panels can even be linked into a group and controlled in sync.
For a particularly quick start, there is the Quickstart button. With a single press, the panel automatically starts with the last programme used – ideal for daily use without having to adjust the settings again.
Yes. heilys® panels are deliberately designed to adapt flexibly to your living situation and preferred way of using them. Depending on your needs, you can mount the panel permanently, use it on the move or even expand it into a professional full-body set-up.
1. Wall and door mount (included)
Every panel comes with a wall and door mount. This lets you fix your panel permanently to a wall or hang it flexibly on a door. This solution is particularly suitable for regular use at home and saves space.
2. MobileStand (heilys mobile Stand 30cm for red light therapy)
The heilys® MobileStand makes your panel mobile. Thanks to its castors and folding mechanism, it is easy to move, set up and store in a space-saving way. For a fixed location, the castors can also be removed if required.
3. FlexiStand (heilys® FlexiStand L)
The heilys® FlexiStand offers maximum freedom when positioning your panel. Thanks to 90° rotation and a tilting and swivelling design, you can position the panel exactly where you need it – even over a bed or sofa while you lie comfortably. The castors provide mobility, while the quick-release mount lets you attach and remove the panel quickly.

For larger set-ups, we offer professional stand systems for one to four panels.

The Dual Stand Motorised offers maximum flexibility. It can be used both vertically and horizontally and features electronic height adjustment with savable positions. No. heilys® panels use ultra-quiet fans and produce very little noise. The noise level is around 36 dB at a distance of 15 cm and around 33 dB at 50 cm. This roughly corresponds to a soft whisper or a quiet home environment.
