“My team and I spend hours every day in front of monitors whose light is out of balance – far too heavy on blue. Our eyes quickly feel dry and tired! So we asked ourselves: what if we add soothing red light for our eyes – without changing a single colour on the screen?”

What makes heilys® AddRed special

heilys-Icons-30-min.png

The first balancing light for your monitor

AddRed specifically supplements blue-heavy screen light with 670 nm red light – developed as supplementary light for a more balanced screen workspace.

heilys-Icons-Flexipad-38_2c491ccc-dd6c-412a-b2ff-95f31d34c5c7.png

Generous illumination

With an average of 1,000 lux on a 2 × 1 metre work surface, AddRed illuminates not just the screen area but your entire desk.

heilys-icon-AddRed_1.png

Precise asymmetric light distribution

The targeted 45° light distribution directs the light onto your workspace rather than the screen – for fewer distracting reflections and a more pleasant working environment.

AddRed vs. blue light filter glasses

Adding red light instead of blocking blue light

Two different approaches to everyday screen use – AddRed specifically adds 670 nm red light, while blue light filter glasses reduce part of the blue light.

670 nm red light heilys® AddRed
Blue light filter glasses
Light principle
Adds 670 nm red light Instead of blocking blue light
Blue light is reduced Depending on the glasses and filter strength
Colour perception

Yellow or orange lenses Can alter colour perception
In everyday use
For the entire working day at the screen Designed for your daily screen routine
Depending on the filter, more for evening use Stronger filters in particular are often used in the evening

Customer photo review of heilys® AddRed

Danke!

heilys® AddRed

Frequently asked questions

  • The heilys® AddRed combines warm 3000 K full-spectrum light with high colour rendering of Ra 98 and switchable 670 nm red light.

Unlike an ordinary desk lamp, it lets you adjust not only the brightness but also the light mix. The wide light bar and asymmetric light distribution illuminate a large area of your workspace without shining unnecessarily onto the screen.

The AddRed is not a medical or therapeutic red light lamp. It was developed as a high-quality task and comfort lamp for the office, home office, creative work and relaxing evenings.

  • The AddRed can be adapted to different tasks, times of day and personal preferences.

    It offers:

    • four light modes – from 3000 K full-spectrum light to pure 670 nm red light
    • five brightness levels: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%
    • additional stepless adjustment of brightness and light mix*
    • adaptive brightness control
    • an optional 2-hour timer

This means you can use the AddRed both as a classic desk lamp and with an individually chosen red light component.

    * Confirm the exact operating logic against the final product before publication.

  • The AddRed was designed to provide calm and as comfortable as possible workspace lighting. The flicker-free light technology, warm light colour, dimming levels and asymmetric light distribution all contribute to this.

The light is directed mainly onto the work surface, which can reduce direct glare and distracting screen reflections.

However, how comfortable a light source feels varies from person to person. If you have sensitive eyes, start with a low brightness and red light level and adjust the setting gradually.

If you have an existing eye condition, have had eye surgery or are particularly sensitive to light, you should seek medical advice before use.

  • The asymmetric light distribution was developed so that the light falls mainly onto the work surface and not directly onto the monitor. This significantly reduces distracting glare and reflections.

Whether reflections are eliminated completely, however, also depends on the monitor's surface, its position and the alignment of the lamp.

So position the AddRed so that the beam of light falls onto your desk, keyboard and documents without shining directly into the screen or your eyes.

  • The AddRed can be used as a normal desk lamp for extended periods. Always adjust the brightness and light mix to your personal comfort, the time of day and the ambient light.

The 670 nm red light can be adjusted independently of the white task light. If needed, start with a low level and only increase the red light component as far as feels comfortable for you.

If required, you can activate the integrated 2-hour timer. When the timer is on, the AddRed switches off automatically after two hours. Without the timer activated, the lamp stays on. You can then switch it back on for further use. So you can easily use it for an entire working day.

Please also observe the instructions in the user manual.

  • Yes. The red light does not have to be switched on.

In white light mode, the AddRed works like a high-quality desk lamp. The warm 3000 K full-spectrum light illuminates your work surface, keyboard and documents evenly and renders colours naturally with Ra 98.

This makes it suitable for, among other things:

    • Office and home office
    • Reading and writing
    • Video calls
    • creative and design tasks
    • crafts and other activities where good colour rendering is important

You can also switch on the 670 nm red light whenever you like.

  • Blue light filter glasses reduce certain parts of the light before it reaches your eyes. Depending on the tint, they can also change how you perceive colours. The AddRed does not filter the monitor light. Instead, it supplements the lighting around the screen with warm full-spectrum light and switchable 670 nm red light. This means it does not only affect your immediate field of vision but also illuminates your keyboard, documents and other areas of your workspace. The two solutions therefore take different approaches and, depending on your personal goal, can also be used independently of each other.

  • Align the light bar as parallel to the edge of the desk as possible. The beam of light should fall evenly onto your work surface, keyboard and documents.

    Make sure that:

    • the lamp is securely fastened
    • the brightness suits the existing ambient light

If you want to perceive more of the red light component, you can tilt the lamp slightly towards you. The setting should always remain glare-free and comfortable.

Thanks to the adjustable joints, the base and the desk clamp, the AddRed can be adapted to a variety of workspace set-ups.

There is room under the light bar for monitors up to 70 cm high.
