heilys® FlexiPad was specially developed for local applications and can be flexibly adapted to various body regions. It is particularly often used on the back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees, hands, feet or elbows. Applications in the lower abdominal area are also among the frequent uses. Thanks to its flexible design, the FlexiPad optimally adapts to various body regions. It is placed directly on the desired body area or fixed with the supplied strap (approx. 120 mm long), enabling particularly simple and targeted application.
For optimal light transmission, we recommend applying FlexiPad as directly as possible to the skin. This allows red light (660 nm) and near-infrared light (850 nm) to reach the tissue effectively.
FlexiPad features a soft, skin-friendly fabric surface that ensures comfortable wear during use and lies comfortably even with direct skin contact.
Thick or highly opaque fabrics can reduce the amount of light and thus diminish the effect. Thin clothing, however, is often perfectly fine.
Many users find the FlexiPad application pleasantly warming. Since the pad rests directly on the body, a gentle warmth often develops, which is perceived as very relaxing, especially for tension or tired muscles. FlexiPad typically reaches temperatures of up to approximately 37 °C, thus remaining in a pleasantly warm range.
However, unlike a classic heating pad, FlexiPad does not primarily work through heat. The red light (660 nm) and near-infrared wavelengths (850 nm) used are primarily intended to support biological processes in the tissue. The warmth is a pleasant side effect, but not the actual mechanism of action of light therapy.
If you are primarily looking for an intensive heat application, a classic heating pad is usually warmer. Red light and near-infrared light support biological processes in the cells by stimulating the energy production of mitochondria.
If the application feels uncomfortably hot or discomfort occurs, we recommend stopping the application immediately.
Yes. The FlexiPad has a built-in battery with a 6,000 mAh capacity, allowing it to be used without a power outlet. The battery life is up to 120 minutes, and charging takes approximately 240 minutes via USB-C.
The battery is conveniently connected to the FlexiPad via a magnetic connection and was deliberately designed for comfortable use. Despite the high capacity, the system remains comfortable to wear and enables flexible, wireless application.
This makes the FlexiPad particularly suitable for use on the sofa, in bed, or on the go. Its flexible design allows the pad to adapt to various body shapes, making it especially suitable for the back, abdomen, shoulders, hips, arms, or legs.
An elastic strap is also included for secure fastening. It is 114 cm long and suitable for most body sizes and areas of application. This allows body circumferences of up to approximately 150 cm to be comfortably enclosed and secured.
In addition to the classic continuous light mode (F0), FlexiPad offers two pulse frequencies: 10 Hz (F1) and 40 Hz (F2). Furthermore, pulsed light can offer advantages for deeper tissue structures depending on the application.
F0 (0 Hz) – Continuous Light:
The standard mode is suitable for most classic red light therapy applications, such as skin health, regeneration, wound healing, anti-inflammation, and general well-being.
F1 (10 Hz) – Low-Frequency Pulsed Light:
Is often used for applications related to circulation, relaxation, and neurological issues. Some users, for example, use this mode for neuropathies or sciatica pain.
F2 (40 Hz) – Higher-Frequency Pulsed Light:
Is often used for muscle regeneration, sports recovery, muscle tension, or chronic conditions. Many users find this mode particularly pleasant for larger muscle groups.
Since every person reacts differently to light, we recommend starting with the continuous light mode and then trying out the different pulse frequencies. Choose the setting that feels most comfortable for you and your application goal.
FlexiPads are designed to be easy to use and are operated via the integrated controller. Application duration, intensity, and pulse mode can be individually adjusted with just a few button presses.
The application time can be set in 5-minute increments. Additionally, several intensity levels are available, allowing you to adapt the light intensity to your personal preferences and the specific body region.
Furthermore, in addition to the classic continuous light mode, FlexiPad also offers two pulse frequencies: 10 Hz and 40 Hz. While many users prefer continuous light for daily use, pulse modes are often used for special applications in the areas of regeneration, circulation, or muscle relaxation.
For beginners, we recommend shorter applications and moderate intensities. With increasing experience, you can individually adjust the application duration, intensity, and pulse mode to find the most comfortable setting for you. This makes FlexiPad suitable for both beginners and users who want to personalize their light therapy specifically.
To ensure you enjoy your FlexiPad for a long time, we recommend regularly cleaning the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents, as these can damage the material.
FlexiPad is not waterproof and should therefore never be immersed in water or cleaned under running water. Before cleaning, the device should be switched off and disconnected from the power supply.
After use, store FlexiPad in a dry and protected place, avoiding strong creases or unnecessary stress. This will maintain the pad's flexibility and the LEDs' performance in the long term.
For most applications, we recommend an application time of 5–10 minutes per session. The time can be easily adjusted in 5-minute increments. Please note: Longer applications do not automatically lead to better results.
FlexiPad can generally be used daily. A general recommendation is 5–6 applications per week. In cases of acute tension, after physical exertion, or other local discomfort, two applications per day may be beneficial if needed.
As with any form of light therapy, we recommend paying attention to your own body's signals and, if necessary, starting with shorter sessions. Regularity is often more important than the longest possible applications.
FlexiPad uses red light (660 nm) and near-infrared light (850 nm), which are considered safe and well-tolerated when used correctly. No side effects are known when used as intended. Nevertheless, there are some situations in which special caution is advised before use.
We recommend seeking medical advice before use if you are pregnant, suffer from cancer, are taking photosensitizing medications, or have a known light sensitivity. Prior consultation may also be advisable for chronic diseases or existing medical implants.
FlexiPad should also not be used on open wounds, severely irritated, weeping, or acutely inflamed skin. Pay attention to your personal perception of warmth during use and discontinue use if an area of skin feels uncomfortably hot.
As a general rule: If you are unsure whether the application is suitable for your personal situation, we recommend consulting a doctor or other medical professional.
How quickly changes are perceived depends on the application goal and the body's individual response. Many users report a pleasant effect after just a few applications for muscle tension, after physical exertion, or for strained joints.
For sustainable results, however, regular application is crucial. As with all forms of photobiomodulation, changes are often only perceived after several days or weeks of consistent use.
Consistency is usually more important than applications that are as long as possible or particularly intense.

"As a proponent of modern, evidence-based healing methods, I value the use of the heilys red light therapy in postoperative care. It effectively complements my therapeutic spectrum and supports the regeneration of my patients at a high professional level."
"I completed a 70-day recovery protocol in cooperation with Heilys. In addition to 0 sessions in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and an improvement in my omega-3 index, I spent about 20 minutes daily in front of the red light panel. I felt that it gave me a very immediate energy boost for the day. I was also very satisfied with the communication and support team at Heilys and would like to say thank you again."
